The bulldog events are my favorites of the year because the subjects are always super cooperative, mostly because at least one bulldog will eventually get tired enough and pose like this.
I think this is the first time I saw a bulldog with black and white coloring like this. Way too cute.
I spent the day with Al & his beautiful bulldog sister Annabelle. They are on instagram as AnnabelleAndAl. You should find them. Al has a lions mane he likes to wear.
This is Bane. He was one of the first bulldogs I met at MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue's Bullypalooza. His parents were super nice & we stayed in touch. This is from the last time I saw him. He had Cushings disease & wasn't expected to live as long as he did. I have cried more for this guy than I have for any other animal that wasn't my own pet (& definitely more than I have for a few pet turtles & birds that passed). Bane really had a way of getting into your heart & making you care. I am sure the way his parents shared his story had at least a little something to do with that. It is hard to see a photo of a pup like Bane eating a burger from the drive through with a caption about "the magic window" and not fall in love. Rest in Peace. Thank you for the people & pups you brought into my life.
Shayla & Milo both have spina bifida. Milo has a pair of wheels to help him get around & they both wear diapers. They are two of the cutest bulldogs I've ever seen. Shayla is still a puppy and Milo is just over a year old. They may have "special needs" and be a little extra work for their amazing mom, but there is no doubt that they are incredible. They spent more than half of the hour I was hanging out with them giving each other, me & their mom kisses.
Pudge is Henri's brother. Their owner left me alone with them for a few minutes & I took more than a few photos in that time. Expect to see more of them.
October 11 - Asbury Park
Mojo is one of the first bulldogs I met at a MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue event. He, like every bulldog ever, is adorable. He also likes to have his butt scratched.
I think Shayla is about five months old. I first met her shortly after she was adopted and moved to New Jersey. I witnessed her first footsteps on the sands of the Jersey Shore. Here she is at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park on October 11, 2014. She is wearing a pink dress and a pink cowboy hat because she is awesome and all English Bulldogs look great in hats. She & her bully brother have spina bifada. I never cease to be inspired by them and their devoted human. It takes a special heart to voluntarily adopt a pet with special needs. It doesn't take much of a heart to find Shayla adorable though.
This is Luka. Clearly, she is not the first dog I have ever met but her photo is a great introduction to what you may find here. I love bulldogs & I love people who take part in animal rescue. Luka had spina bifada & wore these wheels to get around. At just over a year old, she passed away. You can't see her wheels here but I know they're there. I don't think she knew or, if she did, she didn't care. Rest in peace Luka. Thank you for continuing to inspire me. If you didn't let wheels get you down, who am I to let anything get me down.
On that note, I welcome you to the wonderful world of I MET A DOG!!!!
I am a photographer. Most of these photos depict casual encounters with dogs that have crossed my path. I hope they make you as happy as they make me.
